Statement of Faith

I believe in God.
God is a Spirit who is infinite, eternal and unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth.
Through His power, a universe was created and is maintained.
Through His love, humanity was created.

I believe in Jesus Christ, who is the only Son of God.
By the Holy Spirit, Christ was conceived and born into this world.
By human hands, Christ suffered and was killed.
By the plan of God, Christ has risen!


I believe in the Holy Spirit,
Who comforts us in our distress,
Who empowers us in our calling,
Who leads us through all life.

I believe in the Bible, God's Word.
Inspired by God
And useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training.

I believe in the two Sacraments given to the Church through Christ.
Through one Baptism we bring our children into Christ's Body, or, as adults, we proclaim our faith in our Lord.
Through the Lord's Supper we gather to remember the sacrifice of Christ.
We are unworthy to gather the crumbs under the table
But through God's mercy we gather together and receive the Body and Blood.

I believe in the Church, the Body of Christ.
God seeks to include and welcome all people into His church.
It is in the church that we nurture, comfort and encourage one another.
Although it is not always clearly visible, there is a unity that binds all Christian Churches together. I value that part of the Church in which I serve, which is the Presbyterian Church, USA, and I am committed to working for its continued peace, unity and purity.

I believe in humanity:
Sinners by birth,
Loved by God,
And offered salvation through Jesus Christ.

I believe in the purpose of life:
To glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.
